Audio Data

Your voice recordings are captured on your device and sent through winWhisper servers to third-party transcription services for processing. In live (real-time) transcription mode, audio is streamed continuously over a secure connection while you speak. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored on winWhisper servers.

Selected Text (AI Rewrite)

When you use the AI Rewrite feature, the text you have selected is sent through winWhisper servers to a third-party AI language model, which returns the rewritten text to your device. This text is used only to fulfil your rewrite request and is not stored on winWhisper servers.

Clipboard

Transcription and AI Rewrite use your system clipboard to insert text and, for AI Rewrite, to read your current selection. Your previous clipboard contents are restored afterward. Clipboard contents are not transmitted anywhere except as described above for audio and selected text.

Metadata

Some technical metadata (such as request timestamps, user session data) may be temporarily stored on winWhisper servers for service operation.

Transcription & Rewrite Content

The transcribed text and AI Rewrite results are not stored on winWhisper servers and are only returned to your device.

History

Your recent transcriptions and AI rewrites are kept in a local history file on your device so you can review or recover them. For AI rewrites that replace your selected text, the original text is also saved locally so you can recover it. This history is stored only on your device and is never sent to winWhisper servers.

Personal Writing Style (Write-As-Me)

Write-As-Me is optional and off by default. If you opt in, the text you choose to contribute — your own dictations and/or rewrite inputs — is sent to winWhisper servers and stored as your personal writing-style corpus, encrypted at rest. From this corpus we build a style profile (a compact description of your tone, vocabulary, and habits — derived text traits, not your voice audio), used only to generate text in your voice when you, or an AI agent you connect through the MCP server with your API key, explicitly request it. This is the only feature that stores your content on our servers; it is used solely to provide Write-As-Me to you, is never used to train shared models, and is never shared with other users. You can view, add, or delete your samples and style profiles, or turn the feature off entirely, at any time from the winWhisper dashboard.

Settings

All app settings are stored locally on your device.

Technical Logs

The app creates local log files for stability monitoring and troubleshooting. These logs contain only technical information (timestamps, error messages, performance metrics) and never contain your voice recordings, transcribed text, or personal information.

Transcription Services

Audio data is sent through winWhisper servers to third-party transcription services for processing. Standard transcription uploads your recording; live (real-time) transcription streams audio to a third-party real-time transcription provider as you speak.

AI Rewrite

Text you submit for AI Rewrite is sent through winWhisper servers to a third-party AI language model provider, which returns the rewritten text.

Write-As-Me

If you opt in to Write-As-Me, the samples you contribute and the text you ask it to write are sent through winWhisper servers to a third-party AI language model provider to build your style profile and generate text in your voice. Your corpus is stored encrypted on winWhisper servers (see “Personal Writing Style” above).

7.1 Cookie Types

We use different types of cookies to provide and improve our services:

• Necessary Cookies: Required for authentication, security, and basic website functionality. These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors use our website by collecting anonymous usage statistics.
• Marketing Cookies: Used to track visitors across websites for advertising and marketing purposes.

7.2 Cookie Management

You can manage your cookie preferences through our cookie consent banner or by adjusting your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality.

7.3 Analytics Services

When you consent to analytics cookies, we may use services like Google Analytics to understand website usage patterns. This data is collected anonymously and helps us improve our services.
