Audio Data

Your voice recordings are processed locally and sent through winWhisper servers to transcription services for processing.

Metadata

Some technical metadata (such as request timestamps, user session data) may be temporarily stored on winWhisper servers for service operation.

Transcription Content

The actual transcribed text is not stored on winWhisper servers and is only returned to your device.

Settings

All app settings are stored locally on your device.

Technical Logs

The app creates local log files for stability monitoring and troubleshooting. These logs contain only technical information (timestamps, error messages, performance metrics) and never contain your voice recordings, transcribed text, or personal information.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Audio data and metadata are used solely to provide speech-to-text transcription services.
  • Technical logs are used only for app stability monitoring and troubleshooting on your local device.
  • Metadata may be used for service operation, performance monitoring, and improvement.
  • Transcription content is never stored and is only transmitted back to your device.

4. Data Storage

  • All user data (settings, instructions) is stored locally in your Windows AppData folder.
  • Log files are stored locally in %LOCALAPPDATA%\winWhisper\ and are automatically rotated (1MB max size, 2 backup files, then deleted).
  • Metadata may be temporarily stored on winWhisper servers for service operation but is not permanently retained.
  • Audio data is processed in real-time and not stored on winWhisper servers.

5. Third-Party Services

Transcription Services

Audio data is sent through winWhisper servers to third-party transcription services for processing. Please review relevant third-party privacy policies for details on their data handling practices.

6. Your Rights

  • You can review your settings at any time via the app's Settings dialog.
  • You can view and delete log files at any time from %LOCALAPPDATA%\winWhisper\
  • Uninstalling the app will remove all locally stored data.
  • Any metadata temporarily stored on winWhisper servers is automatically purged according to our data retention policies.
